Mother of pearl is an iridescent material found in the inner lining of certain shells. It has been used for decorative and building purposes for many thousands of years and the beautiful sheen and colour range is heightened by changing light conditions and reflection. The material is hard-wearing and long-lasting, making it the perfect choice for high-usage rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms.
At Decorum, we have created a range of tiles to celebrate the natural beauty of mother of pearl. These stunning mosaic tiles are a popular addition to bathrooms and ensuites, as well as swimming pools and splashbacks. They can either be used as an attention-grabbing accent feature, or as the principal tile in a wet room or bathroom.
Flexible Finish
Aside from the instant wow factor that these tiles exude, they are also a practical choice for bathrooms. The mosaics are mounted on a flexible net backing so they can easily be fitted around corners, curved walls or columns. These natural tiles are also coated in extra protective layers to increase resilience.
Shape It Up
For even greater flexibility and design options, our mother of pearl mosaics are available in a range of subtle and natural colours and finishes, as well as in circle, square and rectangular tile shapes. For example, the Shell Mystic Circle mosaics come in Crema and Neutral colourways and the circular shells will complement the natural curves of columns, in particular.
Shell Mystic Rectangular mosaics are also available in Crema or Neutral finishes and the rectangular shell pattern makes these sheets the perfect fit for any wall in a bathroom or kitchen setting. You can either use the mosaics as an accent feature for a splashback or a shower cubicle or wet room. Alternatively, tile all bathroom walls in these gorgeous, shimmering tiles for a truly decadent finish.
Shell Mystic Square tiles also fit any wall space and offer a more geometric pattern, which makes them ideal for compact spaces or perfectly square alcoves or splashbacks.
Mix and Match
Depending on your design, you could tile the whole space in Crema or Neutral shell mosaics, or you could blend the two colourways for a mixed-interest scheme. The Neutral tiles also blend well with white tiles from our other ranges, to create interest in an all-white colour scheme (Country Brick and Newport are just two ranges with neutral colour schemes that would complement our mother of pearl mosaics). Due to the natural material, each tile is unique and this adds a beautifully bespoke element to your bathroom design.
